SENAC supports over 600 children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities and their families each year. SENAC provides independent advice, information and advocacy relating to the special educational needs system in Northern Ireland. We wish to appoint a Children’s Advocate
2 year fixed term post (24 hrs per week 4 x 6hr days)
Salary: £27,849 pro rata. This post is funded by BBC Children in Need
The Children’s Advocate will:
· Provide an advice and advocacy service for families of children with special educational needs and disability on the special educational needs system in Northern Ireland
· Advocate for children and young people with special educational needs and disability in relation to special educational needs provision
Essential criteria for all applicants include:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience of providing legal advice or representation in an employed capacity
- Experience of managing a caseload
- Hold a professional qualification as a solicitor eligible to practise in Northern Ireland or hold a law degree as recognised by the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at QUB and/or the Graduate School of Professional Legal Education of the University of Ulster (Details are available in the recruitment pack)
This post will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure check from Access NI
Applicants will be required to demonstrate how they will effectively meet the travel requirements of the post.
