SENAC have a vacancy for an Education Advocate to work in the Every Chance to Learn project. This project supports the educational needs of children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities living within the care system.
The Education Advocate will provide independent advice and advocacy on the current statutory framework for special educational needs provision to assist the children and young people receive the educational support required for their learning needs. Training on the SEN framework will be provided for this post.
This is a temporary fixed term post for up to 1 year to cover maternity leave commencing January 2016.
Hours: 25 per week
Annual Salary: £24,648 pro rata
Essential criteria includes:
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent: a degree in law, education, youth work, psychology or social work or a relevant NVQ qualification minimum Level 3 in either youth work, working with children or health and social care or a Diploma or Post Graduate Certificate in Education
Applicants must have experience in an employed capacity of advocating for and working with children and/or young people with learning difficulties and disabilities and/or ‘looked after children’.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate how they will effectively meet the travel requirements of the post.
