The Special Educational Needs Advice Centre (SENAC) is a charity providing an independent advice, information and advocacy service for parents of children and young people with special educational needs up to the age of 19 across a wide range of learning difficulties/disabilities.

The service comprises of...

 

A telephone advice line for parents offering independent advice and information on all aspects of the statutory framework of special educational needs provision in Northern Ireland and the duties of the Education and Library Boards.

Free individual advocacy services for children in relation to the special provision offered to them.

SENAC to host Special Educational Needs Conference – 26th August 2010

SENAC, in collaboration with the Human Rights Centre QUB, are organising a conference which will look at recent developments in Education in Scotland and England and the possible implications and lessons for changes in Northern Ireland.

Speakers include:

- Brian Lamb OBE, Chair of the Lamb Enquiry and former chair of the Special Education Consortium

- Philippa Stobbs, Council for Disabled Children Iain Nisbet, Govan Law Centre, Scotland

- Frances Ross-Watt, Lecturer in Additional Support Needs, Strathclyde University, Scotland
